REDUXX WEEKLY ROUNDUP: July 28 - Aug 4
The European Vice President of the World Boxing Organization has come forward to confirm that Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is male... and more news.
Happy Sunday, Reduxx Readers!
As a new Monday approaches we are back to get you caught up on all the stories you likely did not miss because, well, how could you?
This week, we caused quite a… uh… storm, didn’t we?
As our (lovely, talented, beautiful) readers will already know, Reduxx was the first outlet to break the news of Lin Yu-Ting and Imane Khelif’s participation in the women’s category at the Paris Olympics. And when we released that fated article on July 27, we never anticipated the absolute wildfire we would cause in the coming days.
Khelif and Lin have dominated the news cycle for the past week, with millions around the world keeping their eyes glued to their matches.
Unfortunately, we experienced a little bit of Cassandra’s Curse watching the pairings unfold, as female boxer after female boxer faced devastating losses, and it was difficult to watch these women lose their Olympic dreams in real-time due to the incompetence and malevolence of the IOC.
But yesterday, we added yet another massive glug of gasoline onto the flames after we learned that the current European Vice President of the World Boxing Organization had confirmed that Khelif was biologically male.
And - as both a hint and a forewarning - things are not likely to get better from here. Reduxx has been invited to a press conference being held tomorrow on Khelif and Lin’s 2023 disqualifications, and we will absolutely keep our readers abreast of what we learn at that meeting.
Make sure to keep an eye on our X for updates, where we have been sharing footage and updates all week from the Olympic scandal.
Without further ado… on to the news!
